Activities in Medio Campidano, Sardinia

One of the best ways of enjoying this area is surely horse-riding through the dunes of Piscinas. For convenience some farmhouses have their own stables too but there are excursion specialists available in the area.

The same can be done in the Giara di Gesturi. If you prefer exploring without any guiding, you can also try the area between Lake Leni and the mountains of Punta Perda de sa Mesa. Easiest access is from Villacidro, passed Lake Leni.

It is the realm of waterfalls (the highest in Sardinia), canyons and gorges. Similar landscape, though in smaller size, can be found on the twisty road that leads from the north of Villacidro up into the mountains that dominate the town.

Waterfalls are just a few metres off the road! Festivals and events are mostly concentrated in summer with a few exceptions, like the festival of saffron in San Gavino Monreale, which takes place in November.
